While unloading the Monday Morning groceries, I placed the items on my dining room table for this picture.
I started thinking about the many blessing that have been said at this table.
My husband says a blessing asking for safe travel of our kids that have come home from college and if they are not able to be with us he ask for a blessing while they are away...a blessing for our extended family in Mississippi. Once many years ago when my children were small, a blessing at our Easter table was given by one of my boys, "...and please, Lord, don't let us get food poison from this food. Amen." Thankfully we did not get food poison that year, but we all did get a good laugh about that!
Growing up in Mississippi...my family blessing was..."God is great, God is good, let us thank him for this food. Amen."
My husband who's family was from Alabama, their blessing was always said by his father...(with a deep voice)...."Lord make us truly thankful for this and our friends, forgive us our sins. In Jesus Christ we pray. Amen."
I ask Sharon what blessing she remembered having Texas/German ancestors..."Come Lord Jesus be thou our guest and let this food to us be blessed. Amen"
Do you have a special family blessing now or do you remember a family blessing from your childhood?
Please share with us in the comments.
