To say that I am so proud of my community would not be true.
I am EXTREMELY PROUD of my community!
Magnolia has been through much turmoil with the "Texas Fires".
Our neighbors to the west side of town took a hard blow to acres of land and many homes have been destroyed.  Livestock has suffered.  We are horse and cattle land.
Magnolia ISD shut down for a week...and that is during football season.  Ever watch Friday Night Lights?

Our high schools were transformed into shelters and base station for the firemen.  Many firemen came from neighboring towns and from different states to help fight these fires.  Churchs became shelters and the community volunteered to help local food pantrys.  Houston business donated to Magnolia.  The Woodlands donated to Magnolia. And many others. We felt very loved!

The fires are contained as of now...school is back is session...Red Cross is shutting down shelters.  Life is somewhat back to normal for most...but not for all.  I am waiting to hear a total of loss.  Many neighborhood will have to start re-building.  The need will be great.  We pray for rain.

Society of Samaratains has a page of facebook where the list needs for the fire victims and food pantry.
Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/SocietyofSamaritans/

Here are a few pictures of Wildwood UMC when Red Cross took over and turned it into a shelter for over 200 people/pets.  Jana is over the Family Assistance Program for WWUMC and she has been working overtime helping the Red Cross and her Wildwood Assistance needs.  Give Jana a HUG and THANK YOU for helping our brothers and sisters.  What a week!

School is now OPEN in Magnolia!
(this is the first year since 1990 that I am not waking up to send a kido off to school)
Remember to drive slow
no cell phones
no texting
Watch for STOPPING school buses!
Smile and wave at the kids going to school.
Kick the ball back over the fence if you see a stray.
Remember to say the pledge of allegiance everyday.

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
